Outlines & Skylines of the North 2011

Further on into 2011, recuperating & rehabilitating my broken elbow, these long walks with the dog exposed some beautiful scenes.
It's good to be patting the back of adventure again. As for the forth-coming winter, expect more night scenes.
Broken bones, broken bike trails 2011
This body of work has been my main concern over the last 6 months. It's an amalgum of bike rides, solitude & long walks with the dog. I exhibited some of the paintings at the Oldham Art Open & The Art Market at Holmfirth. I broke my left elbow in April, this forced some of the wine bottle peices. Enjoy.
Bicycle Ride Around Ryburn Valley 2010
In the tail-end of Summer 2010 I took a day to myself and simply rode for miles on end around the peaks & valleys of Calderdale, which in short is West Yorkshire. The hamlets of Sowerby, Ripponden, The Triangle were like something from an old war film. Little congregations on the top of hillsides. At the time i didn't really appreciate as much as i did when i painted it afterwards.
I really enjoyed this collection and hope to do the same bike ride again.
Guardian.co.uk National Competition
This oil was shortlisted in the London Lives National Guardian art competition. Unfortunately, it didn't make the finishing line. Nevermind.
It was a pleasure to paint and a real thrill getting shortlisted for a National competition.
The Manchester Collection - After the Rain 2010
For the first half of 2010, I have based my work around the heart of Manchester City Centre. I spend time there drinking, socialising, the usual.
When the sun dies down in the city, the streets have a bitter sweet glow. These are some of my favourite scenes, I like how they respond to me like a set in a film.
I hope the paintings capture all this and more.
Part of this collection is on sale at the Ryburn Gallery.
The Oldham Series: 2009 Exhibit
All other work is for sale privately, please contact me directly.
I have lived in Oldham all my life, there are many areas which I pass everyday. Each picture is a narrative of my life; the paths I ride along; the buildings that are etched into the background of my day; trees that I watch bend in the wind.
Oldham gets a lot of flack unfairly. I had to paint it and give it the nod of respect that it deserves.
My open night was held at Arcadia bar in Great Ancoats, Manchester.
Life's A Beach: 2008 Exhibit
Surf & Beach Culture of California. A glimpse into the rugged & spectacular terrain of the west coast and the people who are drawn into it. Online from 15th of June & on show at Jackson’s Pit bar off George St Oldham for one night only on Saturday the 14th June. All of the above are oil on canvas.
